Actor Justin Mentell, perhaps best known for his starring role on Boston Legal, died in a car accident in rural Waukegan, Illinois yesterday morning.
He was just 27 years old.
An eyewitness tells the website that Justin’s jeep swerved off the road, went down an embankment and hit two trees.
The actor, who was alone and not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene around 8:30 a.m. after a call came in. The accident is believed to have occurred around 3 a.m., Chief Deputy Jon Pepper told the Wisconsin State Journal.
"The family and friends of Justin Mentell thank you for visiting his site," read a statement on his website. "Memorial services are being planned."
Justin Mentell portrayed lawyer Garrett Wells on Boston Legal from 2005-2006; more recently, he appeared as Terrell in the 2009 film G-Force.
Born in Austin, Tex., Mentell was also an accomplished athlete who was a former member of the U.S. Junior National Speedskating team.
